Tin Whistle Sheet Music Notes
When I was working out the notes for these songs I was using a whistle in the key of D. Most of the sheet music is either in the key of D or G. Most of the songs have a youtube video showing how to play them and I have also used basic easy to follow letter notes. I find the system of using letters easier to follow a quicker to play along to. When you see the + symbol under a note it means that the note is in a higher octave, which means you simply blow harder to reach that note. Also on the site you'll see the Tin Whistle Song Book for sale. This book was produced by myself and is aimed at beginners to intermediate whistle players. The book has been selling well for several years now and I have gotten it reprinted many times. It has been the first music book ever written that uses easy letter notes along with the sheet music with pictures of which holes to cover with your fingers.

This is phenomenal work. Thank you.
I picked up a whistle yesterday, as a substitute for piccolo and flute — I played both for almost a decade, but COVID stripped some of my lung capacity a while back, and playing has never quite been the same. The whistle doesn't seem to require quite as much air, and since the fingerings are the same, it's delightfully accessible. I was worried about whether I'd be able to find quality sheet music for it, or if I'd have to transpose music written for other instruments myself.
But no, you've gathered such an extensive collection of songs here that it's beyond anything I ever could have imagined. And it's so thorough!! The amount of love and effort put into making it accessible to everyone, even people who can't read sheet music — that blows me away. And the quality of the scores themselves is stellar. I've fumbled through a lot of amateur scores before, with rhythms that aren't quite right and hit uncanny valley. These are all pretty spot-on, even for some of the Irish folk songs that have multiple well-known recorded versions; your strategy of providing the bare bones rhythm and melody gives us the freedom to embellish at will, and tweak it into whatever version we'd like. Brilliant!
I'd gone through some of your free uploads yesterday and had an absolute blast noodling around, figuring out which skills translate from flute and which don't. Skimming through your e-books, I'm only more impressed. Again, the love it takes to make this accessible for everyone, even absolute beginners, takes my breath away (even more than COVID did!). It's rare to see passion, skill, and generosity in much of anything these days, much less all together in one massive project. Thank you for all of your hard work and care, for helping me play music again, and for teaching music to who knows how many others.
I saw that you updated this month, what a happy coincidence! I will keep an eye out for any future work of yours as you add on to this masterpiece.
Cheers, Victoria.
All the skills and tools to provide these tabs are provided to me by The Good Lord, without him none of these pieces of sheet music would be possible.

If your new to playing the whistle I's suggest you start off in the Children's section as these songs are easier to learn. Don't be embarrassed about playing children's songs as we all have to start somewhere and if you try some of the other songs you may get disillusioned and give up.
Here's what Tom had to say about my Tin Whistle Book.[ Just one of many kind responses I received ]
Martin, I bought a tin whistle (Dixon Trd D) and started trying to play last August 2017. I am 73 yrs young and am trying to keep my brain going by learning new things. After the whistle I purchased your book and it made a huge difference in the speed of my learning. Combined with your interned exercises and songbook I have progressed beyond my expectations. While I do not read music per se, I do understand the tone and beat of a song so I can learn by listening. I played guitar and banjo in the 60's/70's in early coffee houses in the States but I always learned the songs by listening. Your book however really made me think about the notes and tone together and it made all the difference to me. I am very grateful for your very understandable text and videos. Thank you for all the time it must have taken for you to put this book together. I truly enjoy the Irish whistle (I now have several in various keys) and plan to keep playing ( and hopefully getting better all the time) as I thoroughly enjoy this new experience in my life.
So why did I make this book ? Simply put, I put the book together to help those who wanted to learn how to play the tin whistle as easy to learn as possible. When I was learning how to play there were very few books teaching the songs I wanted to learn to play. Nearly all the tuition books were for traditional music and that's not what I was into. I wanted to learn songs.
There were simply very little song books out there that were much good, and that's still the case the last time I checked out Amazon books. So a couple of years ago I had gained enough knowledge to put what I had learned into a book to help others. I was determined from the start to keep the book as easy as possible for people learning the songs so I decided along with using standard tin whistle sheet music, which is easy enough in itself to play along with that I would use the simplest method, and that using letter notes.
I went ahead and put a list of different kinds of songs together for all kinds of music, to give a good mixture of songs. That was about 5 years ago and I recently got my third batch of books printed. A big thank you to all who bought the book to support this website.
