Leaving Facebook Because Of Christian Beliefs - Why I Left Facebook

Some of you who used to contact me through Facebook may be wondering why you can't contact me through Facebook anymore. Well the reason is, that I deleted my personal and also the account associated with this website.

In my heart I new I would eventually leave Facebook, it was on the cards for a few years. The main reason I left is because Facebook is an ungodly place to hangout.
Most days when I'd log into Facebook I'd come across posts that were contrary to my beliefs as a Christian.

I assumed I could edit what I seen on Facebook by deleting so called Facebook friends who posted offending images and spoke unchristian views. Well I did delete probably half of my so called friends but the images kept appearing, a friend of a friend would like this or that and it showed up on my page, so I'd delete the offending item. This became too much so I left Facebook.

Some would say that most people have to put up with offending stuff on Facebook on a daily basic and it doesn't effect them too much. That maybe the case for some, but when you're a true believer and come across unchristian remarks and images each day, it can hit you like a ton of bricks. Your heart just sinks, it's difficult to describe the feeling, but I'm sure other true believers will know that sinking feeling.

Hi Martin, I respect your decision to leave Facebook. I often hear friends saying their Facebook feed is full of negative things. Fortunately, I only see Irish music videos, quilting and sewing projects and funny dog videos in my FB feed. I guess I haven't run into the negative folks there, which I'm glad of. I have to stay on it because it's the best place to promote our local Comhaltas events. (I'm the public relations officer of Craobh Dugan.)

My only gripe with FB is the time it slurps. I'm just glad you're keeping your website going. I have learned so many tunes from you! I have your book and practice from it often.

Here's something to make you feel good - I live in a townhouse community in Upstate New York. In the summer I have the windows open, and often I happen to be playing my tin whistle. Well the neighbor across the way told me that she loves to hear it. It's the only thing that quiets her baby grandson when she's babysitting him. So whenever I see them out on their porch, I play them a few tunes, most of which I learned from you!

So good to "meet" you, Martin. I just found Christy's, Black Is The Colour, as I was looking for great folk songs. I am Christian and have about 73 original songs between my wife and I. I am just starting a collection of classics and folk songs and happened upon your pages. God bless you. I don't blame you for leaving Facebook.

HI, I am new to this site so only seeing this now regarding (ten of the top scientific facts in the Bible) this is all very true and if I might share that for me the one sentence from the whole Bible which really grabs me is John 17, Jesus says (YOU ARE IN THIS WORLD BUT NOT OF IT) now most people just gloss over that but it sums up our whole situation completely, so what does it mean to be in this world but not of it, there are almost 8 billion (apparently) separate humans in this world but only one (Spirit) animating all of (us) take away that animation and the body drops, what we are is not a body with a (Spirit) what we are is (Spirit) wearing a body, as newly born babies there are 5 senses passing through us, seeing hearing feeling tasting touching but over time the mental state arises and says that (I) John or Mary am the (one) who is seeing hearing feeling tasting touching even though at night in deep dreamless sleep (we) go back to our true nature and the thousands of bodily functions like blood pressure, respiration, cell renewal, etc. etc. carry on with absolutely no input from (us) slowly we come back a bit towards the waking state and enter the dream state and that dream seems absolutely real to us and if we never woke up that would be our reality and after a few hours John or Mary wakes up, the 5 senses kick in plus thoughts and sensations and once again (we) are totally captivated with this world and (our) part in it. EGO that separate sense of (self) is what veils our true nature which is always there just like the sun on the other side of the clouds.EGO is a parasite so cunning that it takes over and convinces the host that it (is) the host, knowing this mentally is useless as it must be experienced and if this ever happens for (u) or not is entirely up to Grace. if u managed to read this far congrats, contemplate deeply on (you are in this world but not of it) and see if what is written above is true or false to (u)
