lorraine is looking for A Belfast Song.
I am trying to find the lyrics or any information on a beautiful song my mother in law (RIP) used to sing at family gatherings. It was about the McMahon murders in Belfast in 1922. I think it may have been to the music similar to the song 'Dear old Skibbereen'. Can you help?? Thanks, lorraine

I remember my father used to sing that song too. It began " They came at dead of midnight. They came all armed with guns and began the wholesale muder of Mc Mahon and his sons". It was to the tune of "Erin's Flag". Despite my searching, I have not found it yet. Good luck with your search.

Hello . I'm wondering did you ever have any luck finding the words to this song . My father sang it all the time and my family are on the hunt for it too without any success .

I think I have the words of a version of this song. My dad taught me it about 50 years ago. The words I have are different to the snippets above. But, you are welcome to have them. MD
