Interview with Celtic Woman
since Celtic woman's American debut in 2005 the all-female adult contemporary ensemble have gone on to achieve world-renowned success they've sold over 6 million DVDs and CDs worldwide have had two top 10 albums debut on the Billboard Top 200 and so many more accolades we'd be here all day their brand new show entitled believe comes to The Fabulous Fox Theater on this next Tuesday and Wednesday and joining me now to tell us all about it are Murad Nesbitt Chloe Agnew Lisa Kelly and Lisa Lam good morning ladies okay is there a prerequisite for being in this
group that you have to be gorgeous I did honestly look the crews like this is not a bad day for the gentleman and I seriously welcome and for those people who do not know about Celtic woman tell us all about it well gosh Celtic woman started back in 2005 and we were actually asked to come together to do this one night performance that was all it was supposed to be and you know we all knew that something very special happened that night we knew it was being filmed for PBS television here in America and but little did we know the success it would have and here we are
seven years later and we never thought we would ever have the opportunity to record gosh this must be our fifth or sixth DVD now in the Fabulous Fox Theater and to be here in Atlanta with all the beautiful and Georgia people we hope they'll all come out and have a bit of fun with it that's wonderful you're big fans you have tons of fans here so you say you were supposed to come together for one night but how did that come about and what were each of you guys doing just pursuing your own careers with performing individually that's right and we had each and we had
each been working on different projects at the time and I actually been in Riverdance at David dance who's the musical director and composer of the show and he just basically asked would I be interested in doing a one night show and I think the three of us Lisa's only joined us since last year but the three of us agreed and you got to do this on on the one night basis yeah and here we are now all these years later oh no they're with Celtic okay no kidding and so let's talk about this new show believe and you know it's going to be you're performing it at the fabulous
Fox of course which I've asked you all before you you've performed there so you know how magical it is and just what a wonderful venue but this is really special because you are going to be taping for PBS for a new DVD CD release so tell us more about what we can expect well it's going to be amazing I think yeah we're also excited we it's I mean with the I think for all of us the process of this whole project is how making of the DVD and is is just so exciting us as performers and to do it in such an amazing venue that's just so magical I think you know if as a venue
and Celtic woman just go together like peas in a pod I know absolutely for us this is all brand-new music we've never performed it in front of a live audience before so it's gonna be that's gonna be absolutely amazing and the fact that we have chosen Atlanta and the Fox Theater as as our place to film it is very special to us because I think for us you know for years we have had the opportunity of performing all over the states particularly here in the Fox and we've always done our DD sheets at home in Ireland and I think you know we decided
that coming here to the Fox and would be our chance to give back to the American people and the years of success and and love and support they have given us over the last few years so it's going to be really really special night we have hundreds of fans were travelling from all over America to come and be with us so it's going to be really exciting though - those fans have always kept like the last time of the last shoes we did in Paris they flew over to Ireland we had over 200 American fans of the show that came to the show in Paris course which is pretty incredible so I
think wonderful people were deciding where to do it this time it just felt right to do it here what is it about your performances about your music I mean you have to know you have that that special it factor I mean people just love you what is it you think that resonates with people around the world around the globe I don't know we're very very passionate about what we do and we have something for everybody I think you know there's a family show as well yes love that yeah and you know we are very very passionate we and we're so thankful for a very loyal fans here and and we're
making their job a little bit easier by doing our new DVD here in the beautiful Fox Theater in Atlanta you know so we're so thankful for them and and I think you know we have different styles we come from different backgrounds and we have our different solos and then we come together like that some brands yeah yeah so we love coming together for the ensemble members and it's just I think it's something for everybody and we hope so anyway right and we should mention it's not just the four of you you have quite a production that backs you up so tell us
a little bit about that absolutely we have the most amazing band yeah choir orchestra we have bagpipes amazing alliances with this particular show we're shooting in the Fox we have one or two little surprises that no one's seen before we can't say but it is very exciting it's something we'd never done away oh it was a secret oh okay well good well that should make our audiences even more excited I've never done before with Celtic woman which is just gonna be so exciting for us we're so looking forward to it ourselves so if we're excited we hope people are yeah oh
man my heart I said three but our one three walk though talking about I feel like really just something we have to learn if they're tricky keep the whole improvise kind of fair if I ya know we've been in rehearsals for the last little while you know learning the music and to be in such you know a small kind of room working on the stuff and to be getting chills I think in that sort of scale watching fine it's a really good sign and I think the arrangements and obviously you all of us and our individuality coming together as a group it's it's very special and I feel very

people from sort of 3 to 93 you know children with their parents and grandparents and aunties and uncles it really does sort of spreads across a lot of a lot of generations such as like and just Joey said earlier as well we have lots of favors for people and we have some of our and a handful of favorites that we have performed before and then lots of new music and and if there is
something for everyone sample numbers but then all our solo numbers as well of course we're all from different backgrounds so there is something for everybody yeah what is one of the best comments you've gotten maybe by a fan on already or an audience member talking about maybe they love your rendition of one of their classic favorites yeah absolutely
I think we you know we're honored to have the chance to perform this music but to perform it in a way that sounds very unique and very kind of you basically so it sounds like it's the first time we've ever sewn a song like that you know that everybody knows I think honestly for us the most rewarding part of our job is is hearing how our music has helped people and um you know
if you can reach out and help people I just took people's lives with your music that's the best part of our job you know helping people through difficult times or just our music I think on our show we like to let people come along to the show an escape from the madness that is our day-to-day lives and if they can do that and leave feeling better than when they came in yeah that's the best thing
and on the road touring is it like traveling with sisters I saw you say one bring that tight knit of a group absolutely it is it's one huge family we've an amazing crew and choir and band and we all travel together and indeed the four of us we we we've pretty much it together 24/7 we really are like sisters and we have our our Irish tea and our pajamas we do we sit around and

to do over here okay that's awesome yeah and this song was actually written by McCann Lee who's a really awesome Irish songwriter and we really wanted to do that with this album you know work with new UI Rahsaan writers absolutely so what does it take to get into Celtic Woman we all grew up you know very
passionate music we all have a different story but definitely music has been part of all of our lives since the beginning and categor man has always been an incredible platform for Irish talent and you know ambassadors for Irish music so I suppose it just takes that passion and diligence working hard grafting but also
just loving what we do awesome to get into the group too because you get to you know first of all you pride look up to the women growing up and then you get to travel everywhere you get to go yeah I remember watching the first ever Celtic Woman special and just being in awe of the women I know like I'm getting
to share the stage with these incredible women it's just it is a dream come true yeah now Tara you're the only one to play an instrument yes I play violin and heart from the show which I absolutely love because the violin is just another voice we have three gals but then I get to

tell us about your upcoming to our agent land so we start our angel on tour it's nice here in Nashville we are so excited so much and we've been here every year since I've been in the booth that we've been on tour and definitely Nashville holds a really special place in all of our hearts the place of music so just

passionate music we all have a different story but definitely music has been part of all of our lives since the beginning and categor man has always been an incredible platform for Irish talent and you know ambassadors for Irish music so I suppose it just takes that passion and diligence working hard grafting but also
just loving what we do awesome to get into the group too because you get to you know first of all you pride look up to the women growing up and then you get to travel everywhere you get to go yeah I remember watching the first ever Celtic Woman special and just being in awe of the women I know like I'm getting
to share the stage with these incredible women it's just it is a dream come true yeah now Tara you're the only one to play an instrument yes I play violin and heart from the show which I absolutely love because the violin is just another voice we have three gals but then I get to
sing with the violin Danis lovely to have the instrumental numbers and we don't forget the trad try the pieces in the show how does one get into the heart I want to do the market our harp yeah well I love it is the national symbol of art and so I had the red hair I had to take the national
hey the whole package playing hard I started whatever it's a bit sad than them started the violin when I was my date Wow yeah I really do and Megan you recently met one of your idols I think we both have the same idea yes and we were lucky enough to meet Dolly Parton laughter talk about transcending genres
I mean you know it was incredible you know my mom actually took me to see her when I was little uh and I when we got home I was like I need a guitar I need a guitar now and my dream wedding got me a pink guitar and my mom added rhinestones to it I was adamant I was gonna be Dolly Parton's so

so here we are today interviewing Celtic women who are announcing their fourth coming at all in the back of ancient land Syria and we are today meeting even like MANET guitar of it feel great Cardin good night so how did you will join this production in the first place and they do say you think I'm going into my seventh year in the grip it's genuinely the time has just flown by I think the cause we just have such fun together and we both kinda joined ripped through different experiences and different routes but my own personal
journey I was signed to a record label here in London and fell three gonna kind of fight myself in a weird kind of transition period so I was teaching thing in and I got a cold and from the record label that looks after Kasich women in the States because I had to have a gig for the America Ireland americaland I just kind of fell into place that's great Santa Megan reust how did you get involved abilities that becomes so I would like she's still being here in London and I got a call of others in
Paris singing kaltaka Wednesday could I come back to Ireland to think for them so other students with no money my gosh the Eurostar back to London the four-hour train up to Wales before our ferry home to Dublin I went into my rehearsal to say Eric to my audition I am totally French in a year now played violin in my wings I got quite a multitasking gun part in the band haven't you yes play the violin and I also played part for the show which is lovely to bring back where's the national symbol of Ireland don't you know it's lovely to bring both aspects I
sure would this was the way I started to have and the group was I had fired for four years and then there was one of the specials like to me I'm actually played the harp in the bowed pasta the deck steer the violin position became available and I jumped at the chance that Louis might drink job but I'd always wanted to be part of this group so I just did everything in my power to make sure I deal with that audition with a lovely three years later in here but I realized you could say
[Applause] and so I joined said that that I'm going into my fifth year which is so hard because it feels like about one year it's just been such an amazing adventure and really could stir and push I was singing I was writing music at the time and I put a song on YouTube and suddenly that was working in the Celtic Woman of the sort and share this too and he asked me to come in for an Edition so it was just such an incredible opportunity and I just have a look back I don't think any witnesses get like a bolt out of the blue and just a roller coaster yeah
what's it like to be before me sometimes like on stage it must be quite exhilarating this is such an honor really to be able to represent Ireland on the world stage and to bring our stories and our sound and all over the world and to see that people can relate to them no matter where they're from even if they don't speak our language and Irish music really resonates with the mana on a certain level so exactly are you looking forward to for me other play job story homestyle honestly such a special place I mean I've gone there to watch shows
we always have that dream my goodness would not be incredible when they understand on that stage and to perform and it's London's my stands I mean my goodness it's it's the place that everyone yeah very much so I mean you know you're saying Chris which enormous traditional new song so must be intense rehearsals I mean you win that's at the moment and quite intense periods and rehearsal well we had actually heard this it's about America we had over 70 shows so we are bringing this short to the UK at its peak we've had 70 shows together right now you're utterly often
absolutely loving and this turn box we're so so tired of it I would come out we have to see react so how would the American audiences then because they could be more of an excite such a good reaction this year they really really love this neo returns oh well you'll favorite location as we played so far anything that sticks in your mind a particular show place this is my first we just finished up my first big towards women and II finished in Red Rock for Colorado and seven people in the audience we walked out today like you could see
everybody and by the division by the second actor with them pitch black and they were the lightning and thunder storm happening behind us while we sang and it was exactly it added to the Iberian every day like sex because the wind you know and we actually doesn't know the thunder and lightning storm was happening behind us everybody in their seats because good spell don't think I see it all right so all these photographs emerged after informed and we could not believe it was amazing actually said there was red raucous this
and then no lightning so you must be seeing some expressions on the faces of the crowd to be right there the many particular locations you ladies play that you're doing soon that you're going to that you know it's exciting here we're having to Brazil now and very soon and we're so excited about that as some of us have never been there before raging love but I think the rest will be our first time doing that so we're really excited we've heard that they're an incredible audience and that they're full of on so we can
you can do some sightseeing boss July as well they wear t-shirts in Rio de Janeiro's hopefully it's gonna be cloud free that'd be great I mean I saw your recent TV special in there in terms of Johnson castle in West but that remains it was been so proud to be bringing this all back home in such a special way how good was that for you by experiments for all of us and we will watch those iconic specialist equipment before you know that one day so I think we kind of took our breath away baby whenever we saw our junction and it was incredible I mean there was fire I didn't know he did
it but there was fire coming out of his pointin and it had thanked all the lights coming out of the windows and the castle to the music natural Irish mist upon that we kept slipping although every two seconds they ever happened to mop the floor but a Karina it was incredibly creative the really good lighting effect almost like it was a good speed record in filming you making any new music anything in the pipeline your plan we did still progress in the main things we anyways how does it feel to be one of
ours is great as soon as the collects ports along with many all about you to the cause you could go on and you feel you know to be joining that leads my band some people and musicians it's so incredible to be even named with those amazing artists and we just feel so lucky to be in position that we're in and each of us love what we do so much and as well as that we're all best friends so to be understanding together is really a dream come true that's why because what's been wonderful to me this speech video and I really hope you enjoy all these shows as much

Australian interview with Celtic Woman
hi I'm Maria Carlin hi I'm Lisa lamb I'm Susan I'm rate and we're a Celtic woman and you're watching the AU review what the City you only got in yesterday but how how have we treated you so far it's been great like whenever we were here on a very brief trip from the only non did yesterday but M we've noticed that everyone's just so happy and upbeat everyone's a really nice positive
outlook and I think it's cuz the weather's so nice I think when you wake up to the sunshine each and every morning you can't help but be happy lovely somehow you actually brought good Good weather weather with you because it was cold all week you guys arrived yesterday and it's now beautiful usually it's the opposite I think I know Irish people are known
for bringing the rain and the you know the cold weather with them so we're very happy to have a bit of sunshine well take it as a good omen then your your New album little taste of summer before there before them back into winter but of course wintertime brings with the Christmas and there's a new album that just got released last week can you tell
us a little bit about that well it's our brand-new DVD and CD it's a deluxe package we recorded the album about a year ago and we've just recorded our Christmas DVD to go alongside at this in August actually so we recorded a Christmas DVD in August so Sun was shining right sighs while we were inside singing Christmas song said it was actually locally wasn't it we've been
celebrating Christmas for a long time next since August and but it's yeah it's just a celebration of and Christmas songs and done in the Celtic Woman cattleman style it's a little about the Christmas arrangements that have been produced for the police record well there's a it's a very lush orchestral DVD and CD and obviously the music of Christmas is
known by so many people and and everyone knows every single word of every song so for us it was fantastic it was such a challenge to get to perform these songs and and and find sort of the the truth and the and you know the meaning behind them and as if they've been sung for the very very first time and being heard for the first time and are incredible
maestro mr. David ends our musical director and composer and has done yet again such a beautiful job of these old favorites that people know so well and you know Burroughs has been such a treat to bring these songs to life and sort of find I mean a new meaning and a sort of a new a new variation of what these are Traditional Songs
were there any songs in that process that you discovered in perhaps a way that you haven't before you know there's often with those traditional songs you think you know the lyrics until they're in front of you well we we got to do a lot of our favorites actually but um for me I got to do the solo carol of the bells which we had done as a group number we're used to seeing it as a
group number but it's it's not a traditional song but it is in the States actually it's very very traditional very well known Christmas Carols and so I got to do an instrumental version it is like you say you think you know the words and the songs did you have to sing the full song yeah and you know you go I don't know the words I thought I did and this is going to be taking you not
Summer Shows only through the your winter but our summer you're going to be returning in the New Year listen for summer shows are you looking forward to to that run it's my first time in Australia so I'm just super happy to be here night you'll avoid it but when we get here again in January it's going to be such an experience we've got the Australian
Girls Choir which these guys performance and I'm just really excited because my family a lot of my family are here in Australia so for me it's really nice because I get to come over here and you know I haven't seen them in such a long time they'll be so lovely to perform to them and to perform to everyone else that you know was coming to the shows
and you know you mentioned that this new first-timers charities it is still new for you in the group relative to the rest I mean what if your experience has been like in particular in the last year or so well I've been a massive fan of clutter going for such a long time and I followed them from the very beginning you know I was joking with the girls
they're here because I actually joined up to their newsletter in the very beginning so um I never thought in a million years that I would be here with these fantastic women but I am and it's been you know I studied classical singing and I knew that it wasn't something that I wanted to do and I grew up singing folk music it was very much a part of my life.
