Ringsend Rose song lyrics and guitar chords

Written by  Pete St. John. An Irish love song. . Here's another classic from Pete. This song was recorded by Brendan Grace and Patsy Watchorn with The Dublin City Ramblers and later with The Dubliners. It was also recorded by Tara Folk, The Emigrants and by North Sea Gas. Ringsend is a working class area about a mile from the city center with Irishtown beside it. The list of songs that Pete St. John has written is endless, but the one that has been recorded most of all around the world is The Fields Of Athenry Song about a little town in the west of Ireland.

The mandolin / tenor banjo tab for Ringsend Rose is in the ebook of mandolin tabs here . The tin whistle notes are in my other ebook here

In[D] Irishtown there live's a[G] girl
Fairer[D] than the flower I'm[A] wearing
Rose[D] Donohue all fresh and[G] new
And I[D] love her[A7] past all[D] caring
[Chorus]
And there she goes my Ringsend Rose
In God's garden there's none rarer
And there she goes My Ringsend Rose
Dublin Town has seen none Fairer

Sweet seventeen my seamstrees queen
She's no bigger than a thimble
Soft satin skin streets out look's grin
Sure she makes the world look simple

Three yards of lace to walk with grace
And a golden ring she's asking
They say man's slow ah but still I know
That our love is everlasting
Alternative guitar chords for the key of C Major.

In[C] Irishtown there live's a[F] girl

🎸 Strumming Pattern (3/4 Waltz)

Count: 1 – 2 – 3
Pattern: 🎵 Bass – Down – Down

Chord Bass Notes (alternate)
G 6th → 4th
C 5th → 4th
D7 4th → 3rd
A7 5th → 4th

Keep the rhythm gentle, letting the first (bass) beat ring a little longer.
You can accent beat 1 slightly for that rolling waltz pulse.

🎶 Fingerpicking Tab (Verse + Chorus)

A simple arpeggio pattern that fits 3/4 time:
