Joey The Dancer. Lyrics And Chords

By Adrian McCarthy
A mighty song about an Irish dancer from Co. Cork. Reminds me of Riverdance, or maybe Lanagans Ball.
Many songs are included here about Dancing including one from Wexford called Dancing At The Crossroads by The Wild Swans.

Dm
There's a man here in Cobh and you all know him well
     C
He's quite a good dancer or so he will tell
     Dm                        F          C
His feet they are small with body of lead
     Dm           C             Dm
And more so on top he has a big head

Chorus
  Dm
He's Joey the dancer he knows all the tricks
  F                           C                            Dm
He soars through the sky with one mighty kick

His toes they are twinkled, his belly it's not
He had a big chest, but now it has flopped
One day when he jumped high right into the air
He landed back down without any hair

Chorus

Some people say he's a cute Cork whore
But there's others they say that he's like Christy Moore
He sweats when he's dancing, he showers the place
But then floats through the air with a wonderful grace

Chorus

You may think that your dreamin' but please don't despair
He has a big head and its full of hot air
It floats him up high right off of the ground
And when he lands back there's an almighty sound (KA-BOOM)

Chorus

So here is the last verse you must listen well
His knees they are knackered their starting to swell
He can't dance for much more so go see him quick
And buy him a drink he's an alco-holic

Chorus X 2
