The Flickering Candle Song Lyrics And Guitar Chords

Written by Richard to the tune of The Wild Rover

The[G] flickering candle, will it gutter and[C] die?
Or[G] will the common man[D] fight for the rights of our[G] land?
Without vigilance and valor, freedoms a [C]lie.
Greed[G] is a tyrant who[D] waits with raised[G] hand.

Patriots have died and heroes have gone.
It takes a winter to bring down the snow.
Gone is the goose and gone is the swan,
And the graves of our heroes wild flowers do grow.

We no longer need, think not freedom but greed
So republics will fail with no one to wail.
But if you will heed, save liberties seed
For the future of america and the Gael.

The perfect republic you think you have made.
Heroes bought it and paid with lifes blood.
There's still upkeep to pay as you laze in the shade,
Or tyrrany will come upon you like a flood.

The heroes are gone and good old days are past.
The rich think things are getting better.
But if liberty's gone will common folk last?
The republic, you might as well forget her.
