Nora Johnny McEvoy lyrics and chords

The tin whistle and guitar tabs are included. Nora Lyrics, Chords And Piano Sheet Music Plus The PDF for downloading. 'Written by James Butterfield around 1866, although some say Sean O'Casey wrote this Irish folk song, I don't really know. The sheet music is included and is by Pat Daly. This was one of Irish folk singer Johnny McEvoys [ song lyrics ] biggest hits in Ireland and went to No 1 in the charts. It was later recorded by Ronnie Drew from The Dubliners. Johnny McEvoy's version is in the key of Eb. The tune of this song is the same as Maggie, here the Sheet Music And Whistle Notes For Maggie.
Nora is sung to the same melody as ‘When You and I Were
Young Maggie’, a Victorian parlour song. It refers to
playwright Sean O’Casey’s wife Nora Barnacle and was
featured in ‘The Plough and The Stars’ first staged at
Dublin’s Abbey Theatre.
[D]The violets were[D7] scenting the[G] woods[Em] Nora dis[D]playing their[Bm] charms to the[E7] bees,,[A7
when I[D] first said I[D7] loved only[G] you[E7] Nora, and[D] you said you[A] loved only[D] me
the[G] chestnut blooms gleam through the[D] glade[Bm] Nora a[A] robin sang loud[E7] from the[A] tree
when I[D] first said I[D7] loved only[G] you[E7] Nora, and[D] you said you[A] loved only[D] me

The golden dewed daffodils shone Nora and danced in the breeze of the Lee
when I first said I loved only you Nora, and you said you loved only me
the birds in the trees sang their songs Nora of happier transports to be

when I first said I loved only you Nora, and you said you loved only me
Our hopes they have never come true our dreams were never to be
since I first said I loved only you Nora, and you said you loved only

Or simply:
Bass | Down-Up | Down-Up

Tip: Hit the lowest (root) string of each chord for the bass, then strum the upper strings softly for the “chuck–chuck.”
