'Written by James Butterfield around 1866, although some say Sean O'Casey wrote this Irish folk song, I don't really know. The sheet music is included and is by Pat Daly. This was one of Irish folk singer Johnny McEvoys [ song lyrics ] biggest hits in Ireland and went to No 1 in the charts. It was later recorded by Ronnie Drew from The Dubliners.
