Highland Paddy lyrics and chords

A traditional Irish ballad. The sheet music is included.Highland [ Hyland ] Paddy was a nickname for Irishmen who returned from Scotland to fight in the 1798 rebellion. Recorded by The Wolfe Tones and by The Kilkenny's who also sang Red Haired Mary song.. The tin whistle notes are included along with the guitar tab. In the[D] morning we rose early, just before the break of day, Blackbirds[D] singing in the bushes,[G] greeting[D] to the smiling morn. Gather[D] round free men of Ireland, gather Fenians gather[A] round, Hand to[A] hand with sword and musket, spill the blood upon this holy[D] ground.

There's a[D] grave beside the river, a mile outside Kilkenny, There we[D] laid Our noble captain,[G] birds were[D] silent when this Finian died. All my[D] life I will remember, I'll remember night and[A] day, Once I[A] rode into Kilkenny, and I heard this noble captain[D] say.
