Back Home Again Song Lyrics And Guitar Chords

Back home again fingerstyle guitar tab, with chords included. Written By John Denver, here's another American folk song that's popular on the Irish folk scene.  To play along with the youtube video of John Denver then play in the key of E because that's the key John sang the song in. In case them chords don't suit your voice then I have also made the chords out in the key of G. The song was also recorded by Foster And Allen and by Irish country singer John Hogan. The ukulele chords are included for the version in G Major. The bass guitar tab now included plus the version in DADGAD Irish tuning in pdf

[E]There's a storm across the valley,[A] clouds are rolling in,
the[B] afternoon is heavy on your[E] shoulders.
There's a truck out on the four lane,[A] a mile or more away,
the[B] whining of his wheels just makes it[E] colder.

He's[E] an hour away from riding on your[A] prayers up in the sky
and[B] ten days on the road are barely[E] gone.
There's a fire softly burning,[A] supper's on the stove,
but it's the[B] light in your eyes that makes him[E] warm.

[A]Hey, it's good to[B] be back home a[E]gain.
[A]Sometimes[B] this old farm[E] feels like a long lost[A] friend.
Yes, and [B]hey, it's good to be back home a[E]gain.

[E]There’s all the news to tell him, [A]how's you spend your time,
[B]what's the latest thing the neighbors [E]say?
And your mother called last Friday, [A]"Sunshine" made her cry
and you [B]felt the baby [F#m]move just yester[E]day.

[A]Hey, it's good to [B]be back home a[E]gain.[yes it is]
[A]Sometimes [B]this old farm [E]feels like a long lost [A]friend.
Yes, and [B]hey, it's good to be back home a[E]gain.

[A]Oh, the time that[B] I can lay this[E] tired old body [A]down,
and[F#m] feel your fingers[B] feather soft u[E]pon me.
The[A] kisses that I[B] live for, the[E] love that lights my[A] way,
the[F#m] happiness that[A] living with you[B] brings me.

It's the [E]sweetest thing I know of, just [A]spending time with you.
It's the [B]little things that make a house a [E]home.
Like a fire softly burning and [A]supper on the stove,
the [B]light in your eyes that makes me [E]warm.

[A]Hey, it's good to [B]be back home a[E]gain.
[A]Sometimes [B]this old farm [E]feels like a long lost [A]friend.
Yes, and [B]hey, it's good to be back home a[E]gain.

[A]Hey, it's good to [B]be back home a[E]gain.[ you know it is]
[a]Sometimes [B]this old farm feels [E]like a long lost [A]friend.
Yes, and hey, it's good to be back home again.
[B]hey, it’s good to be back home a[E]gain.
I said [B]hey it's good to be back home a[A]gain[E]

Verse 3 and Bridge

Follow the same picking pattern and chord flow.
For the bridge section beginning “Oh, the time that I can lay this tired old body down…”, play it softer, letting notes ring.

Use Am and C transitions smoothly:

Keep your thumb alternating between A-D for Am,

and A-D for C (never rush the bass).
[G]There's a storm across the valley,[C] clouds are rolling in,
the[D] afternoon is heavy on your[G] shoulders.
There's a truck out on the four lane,[C] a mile or more away,
the[D] whining of his wheels just makes it[G] colder.

He's[G] an hour away from riding on your[C] prayers up in the sky
and[D] ten days on the road are barely[G] gone.
There's a fire softly burning,[C] supper's on the stove,
